If you are taking lessons with one of our instructors and are looking for a short notice test, just ask our advisors and they will be pleased to help. TEST DAY(View video below) On the day of your test you need to take with you both parts of your provisional driving licence. If you have the old style licence, ie no photograph, you will also need to take your passport. (It must be valid) Other documents you need are your theory test certificate and the confirmation letter for your test. When you arrive at the test centre you will sit in the waiting room where your examiner will call your name. He/she will check your documents and ask if you would like your instructor to sit in on the test. This is completely your choice and your instructor will have discussed this with you prior to the test. The examiner will the do your eyesight check by asking you to read a number plate. Next you will be asked two show me tell me questions. The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes and throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. During the current test you will be asked to carry out two of the three reversing manoevers you have been taught by your instructor. You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop exercise. INDEPENDENT DRIVINGFrom 4th October 2010, learner drivers will be tested on independent driving as part of the practical driving test. During your test you will have to drive for about 10 minutes, either following a series of directions, following traffic signs, or a combination of both. The examiner may show you a diagram to help you understand where you are going. There is no need to worry if you can't remember some of the instructions, you can ask the examiner again. What is important is that you decide when it is safe and appropriate to ask for confirmation on where you're going. The change to the test will mean that you will only carry out one of the three reversing manoevers. You won't know which one until you are on your test, therefore you must still practice all three.
